There is a peculiar thing happened to fashion in 2001. Marc Jacobs, the design director of LV, tried his best to persuade the leaders to change the old patterns which has an existing history of 150 years. At first, they thought that Stephen Sprouse’s graffiti handbags are only used in the show, but when they found the orders of this graffiti handbag getting more and more, they finally decided to put them into production. And this graffiti edition brought them 300 million dollar.  From being suspected to hot salling, this affair was considered as the first precedent that the luxurious fashion combined with street art. This cooperation, can be regarded as an handclasp  between graffiti which represented the people in the bottom of society and nobly luxury brand. It reproduced the fairy tale ” a frog turns into a prince “.

 

 

Certainly, the story is still extended. When the spring of 2009 comes, LV launches a new graffiti series. This time ,the designer use fluorogenic pink, green and orange on the handbags which sell well. This new series concentrats the creation quintessence of Stephen Sprouse artistic summit, for example the abstract rose pattern,etc. This edition’s birth is not only the saluting to Stephen Sprouse himself, but also the show of an exquisite artist’s aesthetic philosophy. Furthermore that let people praise is that in order to celebrate the issue of new series, Marc Jacobs nakedly appears with Sprouse-style graffiti patterns all over his naked body. It really causes a big sensation in the fashion world.

 

 

When we recall the success of Louis Vuitton graffiti series, instead of crediting this sensation to an unexpected surprise, we favor the saying that with the leadership of Marc Jacobs, LV steps  into the journey finding itself. As regards the series designed by other fields, there have been  Takashi Murakami’s arcadian style and humorous cartoons designed by Richard Prince. All these has already become the masterpieces. In the fashion world, there is not only LV that favors scribbling style. PRADA has invited artist James Jean to draw graffiti patterns on their handbags. Though both are scribbling, their styles are far from each other.  As for PRADA, while keeping its low-key style ,they add a strong artistic style to the design. In addition, the perfume brand CK one, also issued an edition of fragrant bottle. The special graffiti style showed the designer’s unique understanding of this unisex CK one. At the same time ,it has high reserving value too. And in the spring and summer of 2009, with two works of artist Grems, Swatch make art worn on the wrist.
